Welcome to the House. It is never easy to accommodate a number of people in a close proximity. Therefore, rules and expectations have been developed which you are asked to observe for the duration of your stay.
Compliance with these will help us, and you, to make the most of your time here and prroom or the house.

- HOUSE RULES
No drinking of alcohol, taking drugs, using any mood altering substances, gambling, or energy drinks, either on or off the premises.
No acts of violence or threats of violence.
No acts of aggression, intimidation or discrimination.
No sexual relationships between residents.
No self-prescribing. Refer all medical issues to your GP and inform us of any medication prescribed.
Anyone found to be breaking these rules will be subject to disciplinary procedures which may ultimately result in your discharge from the house.
HOUSE EXPECTATIONS
You are expected to engage in the support/guidance provided by staff on a regular basis as this will form the foundation of support for your continued recovery, especially in the eary part of residency.
We encourage you to participate in college and/or voluntary work to help develop skills, knowledge and experience that will improve your longer term employment prospects. Help and advice for this can be obtained from staff and/or peers.
This will be your main residence whilst with us and it is important that you do not stay away from the house without first discussing this with staff and peers and certainly not within the first month of taking up residence at the house. We are happy to consider weekends away on occasions and short holiday breaks and will consider specific requests in relation to your needs and those of your peer group. All requests must be made well in advance and not at the last minute. Please be aware that if it is felt that you are spending too much time away from the house, we will need to review the relevance of you continuing to have a place here.
You are expected to form open relationships with all members of the house and not become isolated or part of a clique.
You are expected to be appropriately dressed at all times.
You are expected to have an appropriate eating and sleeping pattern and to maintain acceptable standards of personal laundry and hygiene.
You are responsible for keeping your room clean and tidy and collectively with others in the house, for keeping the common areas clean and tidy as well.
FIRE REGULATIONS
You should familiarise yourself with and adhere to the fire instructions which are posted in the dining room. Additional guidance on procedures are also to be found in this folder.
Upon hearing the alarm, the building must be evacuated as quickly as possible and you should assemble at the front of the building.
The use of candles and joss sticks are forbidden.
Do not leave phone chargers plugged in and turned on. They are a fire risk.
SMOKING
Inside the building, smoking and vaping is not permitted.
INTERNET
The internet is provided for educational and recreational purposes only. Inappropriate use may result in your discharge.
MUSIC
When you play music, please be aware that different people have different tastes. Noise levels need to be considered for both your peers and your neighbours.
ANONYMITY AND CONFIDENTIALITY
Please respect both your peers and your own anonymity and confidentiality, what you share or hear either formally or informally around the house should remain in the house. Please do not spread gossip or share in-house issues with people outside of the house. Such behaviour breaches trust and can be extremely damaging and insensitive for those involved.
RELATIONSHIPS
During your time here, you are encouraged not have associations with known drinking alcoholics or using addicts. This includes partners who are known to be using or drinking.
VISITORS
Friends may be invited into the house but should limit their movements to the ground floor and toilet facilities only and leave at a reasonable time.
No overnight guests are allowed.
KEYS
You will be issued with your own keys to the house. These must be returned when you move on. Residents will be charged £5.00 for replacement if the keys are lost.
SAFETY & SECURITY
For your safety and security it is important to ensure that when leaving the house (e.g. for shopping, meetings etc) all doors are locked and windows closed.
GENERAL
Whilst living at the house you are responsible for all your belongings, if your luggage or possessions remain unclaimed for one month after you leave, they will be disposed of.
We hope these rules and expectations are observed through mutual respect, we will do all we can to make your stay here an enjoyable and comfortable one.
If for any reason you feel you are, or have been, treated unfairly during your stay here, please bring this to our attention and we will go through the several options you may have to resolve this.
There are certain circumstances in which a resident could be asked to leave within 7 days:
- Failure to pay the weekly charge.
- Failure to take reasonable care of their surroundings.
- Using the house for any illegal or unlawful purpose.
- Behaviour that causes a nuisance or annoyance for other residents or neighbours.
- Behaviour that endangers the project or the progress of other residents.
